Wow, I can’t believe I survived my roast and it’s now the end of my Rotary year as our president. As my last Rotary “F” word, I know you all thought I’d use the words “finally” or “finished” instead of “fired.” And although I’m now officially “fired” as president of our club (what took you all so long?! LOL) I’m actually using the word “fired” as my final Rotary “F” word because I’m “fired” up for the future of our club!
I always love the last Rotary Club #21 meeting of the Rotary year, not only because of the presidential roast part of the meeting but because we get to hear details of the great work our committees did during our Rotary year. I am “fired” up to know the great impact our RCS donations have made on our community and world through our club committees.
I am also “fired” up for the future leadership of our club! After having an “F” kind of year, I’m excited to say that under Amy Higgins's leadership, we’re going to have an “A” kind of year next year! Seriously, I’ve been so impressed watching Amy’s leadership these past few years and I know our club will continue to thrive under her leadership this upcoming Rotary year! I’m also “fired” up for Rod Price and Stefanie Page, our future club presidents following Amy.
Since this is my last letter as president, I want to publicly say “thank you” to several people. For starters, thank you, Jenna Carroll! You truly are the center of our Rotary wheel. And thank you for teaching me the meaning of “goosefaba.” Thank you Paul Viren and Gary Stokes (and all former club presidents) for setting the example for me to follow. And Gary, a special thank you for joining me in our RCS karaoke campaign! We will forever be known as Club #21's “Blues Brothers!”
Thank you to my board of directors! I appreciate your guidance and help in figuring out how best to handle the curve balls given to us by Covid-19. Thank you to my committee chairs for all your hard work in making this another impactful year for our club! Thank you to all my fellow Rotary Club #21 members who stayed engaged with our club even while dealing with a global pandemic.
Thank you to my roast masters, Kevin Weir and Mark London, and to everyone on the roast panel for that wonderful roast last Thursday! I’ll be sure to find the best lump of coal for each of your stockings this Christmas (LOL, just kidding). And lastly, thank you to my wife, Jennifer, for hosting several Rotary Board gatherings at our home and for being a great support to me. I couldn’t have done this without your love and support!
We had a FANTASTIC year and I’m so proud of the work we do as Rotarians. I am truly inspired and FIRED up for the future of our club!
