1/22/26 Rotary Off the Cuff: Cindy Guthrie-Tripp & Paul Read
Would you rather communicate by phone call or text?
Cindy: Phone call.
Paul: Definitely a phone call.
What’s your favorite book, movie, or TV series?
Paul: It’s a series of books about stoicism introduced to me by our wonderful Nadine.
Cindy: I’d probably say Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer.
If you could instantly master one skill, what would it be?
Cindy: Oh, boy. I don’t know. There are so many. I guess I would say to be more disciplined to get up three or four days out of the week, like Mr. Kyle Weir, and exercise by the time it’s 7 in the morning. But I have yet to do that in 58 years of my life.
Paul: I would say remembering people’s names.
What’s an accomplishment you’re most proud of?
Paul: 43 years of marriage. 40 years at the Journal of Business this week.
And two grandsons.
Cindy: I have a new granddaughter as well, so that would be one. But also, I think my trip to Africa. That was life-changing, and I really felt like the impact that we (Rotary) were able to have in that area of the world, and I’m still involved with that.
I’m proud of that.
How long have you been a Rotarian, and why did you choose Rotary Club 21?
Cindy: Since 2014, so 12 years now. I just loved what this club does. I love the heart of it. I love the friendships I’ve made and the impact we have in our community. And that we’re a big Club and we’re able to do big things.
Paul: I think about 15 years, and because of these people, really, it’s respite on a Thursday in days of chaos to be here with friends.
