Note from
President Weir

F is for fungible: (Adjective) Meaning capable of mutual substitution – interchangeable:

One of the best things I love about our club is the fungible nature of our leaders! Thank you, Amy, for taking over for me once again while I was out of town on business last Thursday. I hope you gave the club the same eye roll and smirk you gave me at the district conference when I told you the Rotary “F” word of the week would be, “fungible!” But I can’t take credit for this week’s Rotary “F” word, that distinction goes to my brother, Kevin. He recently suggested we were “fungible” for each other when a fellow Rotarian got us mixed up. I started laughing when I realized “fungible” starts with an “F” and have been waiting for the right time to use it!

But I am serious when I say that I love that our leadership is fungible! There are so many great leaders in our club that has performed so many great roles over the years. Fungible leadership is what has helped our club thrive for 111 years and will help it thrive for the next 111 years!

If you’re new to our club, the first step to becoming a “fungible” leader in our club is to get involved in a committee or two. Our Rotary Community Services (RCS) committees are the backbone of what we do for our community and the world. RCS is our local 501© organization. If you've been serving on a certain committee for a while, please consider being a committee chair. If you are interested in chairing a committee, please let one of our club leaders know.

If you’ve been a committee chair, please consider running for our board of directors to serve a two-year term. The best way to impact our club is to serve it at our highest levels. And if you’ve been a board member, please let us know if you’d consider being a future club president. Because being president of this great club truly is an honor and one that I’ve been proud and happy to serve.

So THANK YOU to all our past, present, and future leaders of Rotary Club #21!  Because of you we truly are a club full of “fungible” leaders that have made a difference in so many people’s lives and will be making a difference in our community and world for generations to come!

Truly honored,

                        Kyle Weir
