From Vice President Rick Repp

This past Thursday, we launched our annual RCS Campaign with a goal of raising $120,000 to support the good work of our service committees.  We depend on this campaign to fund everything from food for school children and our annual Foster KidFest to wheelchair ramps and cleft lip surgeries for those in need.
Although our annual campaign is also a time to have some wacky fun (this year we received a visit from the Bongo Brothers to help launch the campaign!), the needs we are addressing in our community and abroad are serious and need your help.  Year after year, I have been impressed by the incredible generosity of our members as we combine our individual efforts to make a big difference together, and I encourage you to help us make an even bigger difference this year.  Let’s Unite for Good and ensure we not only reach, but exceed our target and enable us to fund our charitable activities for this next year!

9/25/25 Rotary Off the Cuff: Lisa Price & Larry Coulson

Member pictureMember picture

As we begin, Julie says, “I think you’re going to have fun.” Larry says, “I’ll try to get at least a B Julie says, “I’m sure you’re going to knock it out of the park!

What is your preference when it comes to food: sweet or savory?

Lisa: I would say sweet, although I love both. Probably sweet.

Larry: Many courses.

What’s your favorite sport to play or watch on TV or live?

Larry: Mountain climbing

Lisa: To play was tennis and to watch on TV, probably soccer.

Who are a few of your dream dinner party guests?

Lisa: Oh, my goodness, Larry. [Larry chimes in, don’t tell my wife.] In Australia, we had many courses because I’m the wife of Rod Price. [They were at the RI Convention together in Australia.] Some of the other people besides Larry, I would have to stick close to home, my husband, Rod, my stepdad, and mom, Bob & Carol Carroll. That’s it for right now.

Larry: My wife. [Julie asks, Is that a dream or is that real?] That’s a real dream! Almost had lunch, not dinner, with the Prince of Wales, but now he’s King and there won’t be a chance.

What’s your superpower?

Larry: Climbing mountains, I guess.

Lisa: I would say kindness, from what people tell me about myself.

How many years have you been a Club 21 member, and what’s your Rotary why?

Lisa: I have been a Rotary Club 21 member since – it’ll be five years in April of ’26. And my Rotary's why is just to be able to serve in the community, it’s people serving people, locally, internationally, an option to give back to the community, and to get to work beside awesome other Rotarians.

Larry: I think it’d be 35 years. This Club, in particular, but lots more than just this Club, makes an opportunity to contribute financially without the money going to things other than the charity.

New Microphones in the House

We have new microphones! It was time to retire some of our old equipment, after many challenges with the sound system that impacted the experience in the room and on Zoom. If you've been frustrated in person or on Zoom, please come back and hear the difference for yourself. The clarity in the room and on Zoom has significantly improved. Thanks to Club Administrator, Tami Hennessy, and Club Member, Paul Read, for coming up with a solution.

Youth Exchange

Theo, our incoming exchange student from Sweden, arrives on August 17 and will be with us until around the end of June 2016.  We have a first host family, but need a second host family in the Ferris High School catchment area.  The second host family would host from the end of January to June 2026.  If your family is interested in hosting or knows of someone who may be willing to host, please contact Jim Johnson at 509-991-6611 kjrjjj@comcast.net.

If you know of anyone who may be interested in being an exchange student in another country for the 2026-2027 school year or an 8-week short-term exchange in the summer of 2026, please contact Jim Johnson, Rotary Club 21 Youth Exchange Officer at (509) 991-661 or kjrjjj@comcast.net.
