Note from
President Weir

F is for Festival

I love a fun family festival!  And the annual Spokane Lilac Festival has been a part of my life since I was a kid! As you may know, this week marks the 84th year of the Spokane Lilac Festival. There are several activities all week, capped by the Torchlight Parade on Saturday evening. And for the first time in my 20 years in Rotary Club #21, we’re going to be marching in the big parade! If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to march in the parade, here’s your chance! We’d love to have you and your family join us in the parade (kids must be 14 or older).

We’re planning on meeting at Ira Amstadter’s office, Express Employment Professional (331 W. Main Ave., Spokane, WA 99201), at 6:00 p.m. for some pizza and pre-parade camaraderie! We’ll walk up together to our starting spot (#83) at 7:00 p.m. for a 7:30 p.m. start time for the parade. We've acquired a parade banner that says Rotary and it looks sharp! We even have an ad in the parade program for Rotary!

If you’d like to join us, PLEASE RSVP to the Rotary Office as soon as you can!  We need to get an idea of who is coming and how much pizza to buy. It also helps to know who’s coming so we can keep an eye out for you.

So come join us as we promote Rotary and welcome back this great event to the streets of Spokane! Because F is for Festival and what better way to celebrate what makes Spokane great than to march in the annual Lilac Festival Parade!

Truly honored,

                        Kyle Weir
                        President

Bonus F Word, F is for Food

I LOVE that my F is for Full request resulted in a room that was much more full last week!  THANK YOU!  However, we had more people attend than signed up, which means we almost ran out of FOOD!  So just a quick reminder that if you plan on attending a Rotary meeting in person, PLEASE RSVP so we can make sure we don’t run out of food!

Host Family Needed!

Our club is scheduled to host an incoming exchange student for the 2022-2023 school year. The club Youth Exchange Committee currently has one confirmed host family from the Ferris High School area and really needs one to two more host families. If you are in the Ferris school attendance boundary area or know someone in that area who may be willing to be a host family, please contact Jim Johnson for further information via email kjrjjj@comcast.net
or phone (509) 991-6611.
