The Rotarian featured in this week’s story has been married for 36 years to a wonderful partner in crime. They have two adult children, both of whom are married, two lively grandchildren, and a rickety old cat. His daughter lives in Australia with her family and his son resides in Spokane with his new wife. He has been employed by Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest for 30 years, the last 14 as its President and CEO.
In his free time, he likes to video-chat with his grandkids, host friends and family, run and hike, attend concerts, boat and lake camp, frequent new and interesting restaurants, taste local wine, and watch sports! Whew!
He says it’s hard to choose a favorite book or album as he prefers a variety of writing styles and musical genera. However, his favorite movie is “The Mission”, starring Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro. In his opinion, it has one of the best musical scores ever written.
The most worthwhile investment he makes each day is giving back to others. He’s fortunate to be able to do this through his vocation. Leading a not-for-profit organization that provides opportunities for people with a ‘hand up’ fills his cup.
He joined Club 21 in 2002 and has never regretted his decision. He joined to network with professionals who ascribe to high ethical principles, i.e. the 4-Way Test. He says that Club 21 provides the best talent pool for Boards of non-profit organizations. He himself, held one term on our own Board of Directors, ascending to Club President in 2015. Over the past 15 years, he has been deeply honored to present the Katy Reeves Performing Arts Scholarship to 41 graduating seniors. He says Rotary is by far the most rewarding volunteer experience he’s had in 57 years around the orbit!
