Note from
President Stokes

As we continue our “Get To Know Our Committees” tour, this week I’m leasing this space to a Committee with a unique and vital mission – doing our best to serve those whose service helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy today. The Support Our Veterans Committee Chair is Kevin Weir. Kevin…over to you:

Support our Veterans Committee

The Mission of the Support our Veterans Committee is to help fund programs and resources that help our hurting and suffering Veterans, who have given so much to defend our country. One of the great accomplishments this past year has been to fund $1,500 of PPP equipment for the Vets Home when they were almost out of basic PPP supplies and thus endangering staff members who were taking care of so many Veterans in the facility who were sick with COVID-19.

Our speaker last week, Lisette Alent with the Inland Northwest Farmers Market Association, mentioned the ongoing shortage of farmers in our agricultural economy. The Support our Veterans Committee recognized this several years ago. Our committee has been sending funds in support of the Vets on the Farm program “Cultivating Success” which provides a 12 Week intensive curriculum in farming and ranching for Veterans wishing to transition into an agriculture-related business.

Finally, for the 3rd year in a row, through Newby-Ginnings, we funded two Low-Income Veteran families with Christmas presents for them and their children that they would not have normally been able to afford. The smile and joy on the kid's faces make it all worthwhile.

We are always looking for members to help on our committee. If you are interested, you can contact Kevin Weir at 509-309-2922 or CLICK HERE to email.
