This week’s Rotary story is about a Rotarian who has been married to her husband Joe for 26 years. They have 3 kids: Ryan 26, Carolyn 23, and Patrick 18. All live in Spokane. Their youngest, Patrick will graduate from Ferris High School this coming spring.
Our Rotarian helps people reach their homeownership goals as a mortgage loan officer. She works at STCU and has been a self-sourced, commissioned lender for 35 years. If you watch carefully, you may also see her in a TV commercial for STCU as well!
When asked about her free time, she replied “what free time?” However, when she does have it, she enjoys reading, walking her dog in the evenings, snow skiing in the winter, spending time at their lake place on Loon Lake in the summer, and traveling to their timeshare in Scottsdale each winter for a few weeks.
Her most worthwhile investment has been spending much of her extra time serving on the Board of Ronald McDonald House Charities (first in Missoula and now in Spokane). Her oldest son is a cancer survivor and her family stayed approximately 300 days at the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Seattle. She is forever grateful for the gift of housing they gave in their time of need and this is her way to help them help other families.
She shares that her 87-year-old mother just moved in with her and her husband about a month ago. They are all getting adjusted to slowing down and being there for her as they navigate this new chapter in life.
She joined Rotary Club 21 in December 2020.
