Note from
President Weir

A first time for everything

This will be my first letter to our club as president. I can’t promise I’ll be as eloquent as Gary Stokes or as organized in thought as Paul Viren, but I’ll do my best. There is always a first time for everything in life. I still remember the first time I tried to parallel park a stick shift car on a hill. It was scary but I managed to do it without hitting the other cars.

This will not be my first time as a president of a group, it will officially be my second time. My first time I was president of my 8th-grade ASB at Sacajawea junior high. So needless to say it’s been a few years but I’ll do my best to remember those leadership skills I learned in junior high.

But another first time for all of us is upon us now. No, not our first time meeting in person ever, although it may feel like it since it’s been well over a year since we’ve been together at the Spokane Club.  But the first time our meeting together in person at the Spokane Club will require you to RSVP for the meeting.

Your RSVP to attend in person is required so we can comply with current capacity issues at the Spokane Club.  Since Gov. Inslee recently stated we’re fully reopening our state this month we may not need to worry about capacity issues for long, but until we hear otherwise from the Spokane Club we still need to have our RSVP system in place for now.

So if you’d like to come to join your fellow Rotarians back in person again for our July 8th meeting, PLEASE RSVP by 2:00 PM TODAY! And personally, I’d love to see everyone in person again as I outline my thoughts and goals for our upcoming Rotary year and attempt to give a better presidential speech than the last one I gave at Sacajawea in 8th grade! Trust me when I say outdoing my 8th-grade speech is a high bar, but I think I’m up for the challenge!

I hope to see you in person on July 8th!
