I hope this note finds you well and hanging in there during these stressful times. Rotary Club 21 is still actively working to be of assistance to our community. We have a Rotary Zoom Video conferencing account that we have used several times for committees to meet remotely. These have been very successful. We are also discussing some type of virtual option to continue our weekly club meetings.
It is likely that we will extend the suspension of face to face meetings for several more weeks. Adding to the uncertainty is the closure of the Spokane Club, which is slated to re-open next week. This decision will be made by the board of directors on Tuesday, March 24th. If you would like to attend the Zoom Board meeting the information is in this e-news bulletin.
The board will also discuss the activation of a special task force to invite Rotary Club 21 members to work together to assist our club members as well as members of our community who may be in need during this difficult time. The vision I have is to offer volunteer and financial support to other non-profits that are addressing the many needs in our community. We would also like to build a Rotary Club 21 support network designed to help each other. Stay tuned for a call to action.
I am proud to serve as our Club’s president during this time because we are a beacon of hope to each other and our community and it is during these times that we can make a difference.
My prayer for all of us is to stay healthy and to keep our Rotary spirit strong.
Cheers,
Paul S. Viren
Spokane Rotary Club 21, President
Quote of the Week
"As fear grips our country, let us choose love. During this time, when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other, let us find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbors."
