First, kudos to the Program Committee, in particular, Lars Gilberts and Mark Barnes, for being ready to take advantage of the opportunity to hear from our new Spokane School Superintendent. I hope we’ll be able to do more of that throughout the year. I know these programs are picked well in advance, but being able to have presenters that are in the moment will help make us a better-informed club as well as one that’s at the forefront of what’s going on in our community.
Speaking of current events – it’s the most wonderful time of the year – Debate Season! The Club Debate Committee is working on plans for as many as three candidate/issue debates this fall. Assuming we’re still Zoom-ing, we could have some great candidate discourse and the opportunity to bring a lot more guests to be part of the Rotary 21 Election Season.
As I continue to build another link in this chain, thanks to member Cassie Frederiksen for her hosting a Pocket of Fellowship, at her office last week. We have several more who have offered, and as promised, I’m happy to host a group at KSPS this Thursday. Please let Diana know if you’re interested in hosting or attending - we look forward to seeing more of you this week.
Finally, a big shout-out to someone who has been the unsung hero(heroine) of these past few weeks – Diana Picone. Diana came in, learned as much as she could in a short time, and has picked up the rest. I’ve appreciated her willingness to do what it takes, and her commitment to making sure that we have what we need, need what we have, and keeping me in line. Thanks, Diana….
That’s all from the Streets of Spo--- oh wait, I don’t do the Roving Reporter these days…but YOU can. Kyle Weir is still looking for a few good Rovers to take over some of the weekly announcements. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be part of the few, the proud, the Rovers…please get in touch with Kyle.
See you on Thursday, from wherever you are.
