The Rotary Minute is a quick one-minute story that features the work and impact of Rotary in our community and world!
July is Leadership Month in Rotary and it’s the first month of the Rotary year.

In Rotary, July is a time of new beginnings, a time to embrace the newly elected leadership and their ideas!

July is also a time to reassess, envision, and most importantly a time to set goals and determine how we will continue to serve our Communities, our Nation, and the World, seizing opportunities for service.

As a past president, encourage all of you to “seize” the opportunity for service in our club.  How do you go from a new member is club president someday?  You follow the path of servant leadership.

As club members, we encourage all members to be involved with at least one club or RCS committee.  Once you’ve been on that committee for at least a year, you’re eligible to serve as a committee chair.  All committee chairs are chosen by the president-elect and serve at the pleasure of the president during his or her Rotary year term.  If you an interested in serving as a committee chair, please let the president-elect know.

Once you’ve been a committee chair, you’re now eligible to serve on the Board of Directors for our club.  Directors are nominated by our fellow club members and are chosen each fall by the club nominating committee. The nominated members are then voted on and ratified by the entire club.
Board service is a two-year commitment and board meetings are twice a month.

Once you’ve served on the board, you’re now eligible to be a future club president!  Being a future president is a 4-year commitment, starting as the Vice President in charge of RCS (Rotary Community Services).  You’re then President-Elect, President, and then ending your term as the Immediate Past President.

I’ve been a member of Rotary Club #21 for over 20 years, and it truly has been an honor to have served all of you in club leadership these past 4 years.
And I invite all of you to join the leadership ranks of our club! Because July is Leadership Month in Rotary, and our club needs more great leaders like you!
And that’s today’s Rotary Minute!
