Notes from
President Paul

Greetings My Rotary Family!

As we quickly approach the end of the Rotary year, I will focus most of these next few weeks on volunteerism and finding your passion for service within Rotary Club 21.

Not all Rotary Club 21 members “volunteer” time outside of the Thursday meetings.  In fact, the Thursday noon meeting is a social time and a time to learn and connect with each other.

Volunteering for Rotary is a powerful dimension of “Service Above Self” that can transform lives....your life and others you serve.

I can think of so many inspiring stories of Rotary members who have served in so many ways, from leading us in song each week, leading and serving on our many committees to traveling to far off countries for a service project. Every hour of volunteer time is precious.  The goal is to make these hours mutually beneficial!  The giver of time is oftentimes more impacted than the recipient.

During these next few weeks, I will be encouraging you to sign up to serve on a committee, the Special Response Strike Force, or other tasks to make certain you have every opportunity to serve as a hands-on volunteer!

Many thanks to all of you who have given of your time and talents.

You inspire me more than you will ever know and I am humbled to serve as your president of Rotary Club 21.

Please see the special volunteer request from Joe Bruce who leads the Youth Services Committee. This opportunity will inspire you in amazing ways!

Let’s continue to make an impact on the Community we love!

                      Stay healthy and safe!

YSC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The Rotary Club 21 Youth Service Committee (YSC) has been recognizing great hardworking students who might not be recognized as the top athlete or top scholar for many years. These students are invited to attend a lunch with parents, guardian or teacher and given a certificate. For the last few years the YSC team has given them a monetary gift as well.

Going into the 2020/2021 Rotary year the YSC team is looking for a Rotary Club 21 member to join us and become the champion of these students.  November through May, this person would be the contact between the six Spokane Public Schools high school counselors and the Youth Service Committee.

Our student champion would receive student nominees, contact them and invite them to a Rotary Club 21 lunch. At the lunch this person would provide a short introduction of the students, parents, teachers and then have Rotary members seated at the student tables present the student award.

If you are that champion of students and would like to play an important role in recognizing them, please contact Joe Bruce, Rotary Club 21 YSC chair at 954-3041 or email .

Thank you for considering this opportunity to impact the lives of the youth in this community.
